Director, Assessment & Evaluation

Basic Function:

Under the direction of the deputy superintendent, provide periodic assessment information regarding the achievement status of pupils; assist schools, departments and staff members in designing appropriate evaluation procedures to assist in the short- and long-term assessment of instructional programs or experimental projects; maintain a longitudinal collection of data for required reporting purposes to state and federal agencies or for decision-making functions within the district; direct and coordinate the evaluation functions for categorical state and federal programs; develop and monitor budgets; and assist in the preparation of the consolidated application.

Essential Functions:

1. Plan, direct, and report on district and state assessment programs.
2. Prepare school accountability report cards.
3. Prepare a variety of reports including achievement reports, accountability reports, evaluation reports, and demographic reports.
4. Coordinate district-wide research studies and/or surveys with district personnel or outside agencies.
5. Assist in the process of aligning standards, curriculum and instructional support programs, and accountability systems.
6. Prepare research summaries, and/or data analysis.
7. Develop and administer needs assessment instruments.
8. Assist in the preparation of proposals for categorical aid programs.
9. Assist staff in test interpretation; develop and implement testing calendar.
10. Complete required data collection for state and federal programs including appropriate disaggregated reports.
11. Develop and monitor budgets for state and federal categorical programs.
12. Manage the district’s assessment programs.
13. Provide for the monitoring and evaluation of district instructional programs.
14. Assist with the development and submission of the consolidated application, including budget development.
15. Ensure timely and orderly collection, administration, processing, and reporting of all assessment information in the instructional area.
16. Assist with departmental presentations to the board.
17. Perform other related functions as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Any combination equivalent to: master’s degree and five years teaching experience.

Licenses and Other Requirements:

  • Valid california teaching credential
  • Valid administrative services credential
