The District and NHTA met today in another productive session. The sides have reached a tentative agreement on language related to another article of the contract and have renewed their focus on the compensation piece of negotiations.
One-time funds and savings have allowed the District to offer an immediate $2,000 bonus to every unit member in addition to an ongoing raise beginning July 1, 2021. The District had proposed to continue talks on compensation in 2022, when more may have been available to put on the table.
Despite progress made, both sides still have some very important items to agree upon before a final agreement can be reached and will meet again next week to continue that work. The District is not closing the door on addressing language issues that would improve operations and working conditions without moving beyond the District’s fiscal limits on spending.
The next bargaining session is scheduled for May 6, 2021.
