What a difference a week makes!
There are several significant changes and updates related to schools and our ability to reopen. The Alameda County Public Health Department (ACPHD) released a public statement yesterday summarizing many of the changes. That document can be viewed here.
Vaccination guidelines have also changed. The good news related to vaccinations is that, even though the state is transitioning to an age-based priority system, school staff members will be prioritized in the next group before this happens. We do not have any specific information regarding where, when, or how vaccinations will be available. The latest information related to vaccinations from the ACPHD can be found HERE.
When the Governor lifted the regional stay at home order which was based on the availability of ICU beds, school reopening requirements reverted back to the tiered system set up by the state. The current tiered system can be found below:
“CR” = Case Rates
In brief, schools that are not currently open cannot reopen in counties that are in the “deep purple” tier where case rates are at or above 25 per 100k residents. We are currently in that tier. Alameda County Public Health Department officials anticipate that we may exit that tier into the less restrictive purple tier as early as next week. School districts will be allowed to submit reopening plans once we enter the lower “purple” tier (between 8 and 24 cases per 100K residents). The “what, where, when and how” this takes place is still being worked out. I should have more information next week.

¡Qué diferencia hace una semana!
Existen varios cambios y actualizaciones importantes relacionados con las escuelas y nuestra capacidad para reabrir. El Departamento de Salud Pública del Condado de Alameda (ACPHD) emitió ayer una declaración pública que resume muchos de los cambios. Este documento se encuentra aquí.
Las pautas de vacunación también han cambiado. La buena noticia relacionada con las vacunas es que, aunque el estado está haciendo la transición a un sistema de prioridad basado en edad, los miembros del personal escolar serán priorizados en el siguiente grupo antes de que esto suceda. No tenemos ninguna información específica sobre dónde, cuándo o cómo estarán disponibles las vacunas. La información más reciente relacionada con las vacunas de la ACPHD se puede encontrar AQUÍ.
