How to File A Complaint - Statute of Limitations & Complaint Timeline

Take your verbal or written complaint to the school administrator or Title IX Complaint Manager within six (6) months from the date the incident occurred or from the date you first obtained knowledge of the facts of the alleged discrimination.

You have the right to a timely and informal resolution at the school site.  If you are not satisfied with the school site resolution, you may file a written complaint appeal directly with the District Office Title IX Officer within 15 days of receiving the school-site decision.

This will begin a formal investigation process that must be completed within 60 days.  If you are not satisfied with the District Title IX Officer’s response, you may appeal that decision by writing to or calling the Superintendent's Office at (707) 253-3511 or by contacting the California Department of Education's Office of Equal Opportunity  (1430 N Street, Sacramento, CA 95814)

Your complaint will be kept as confidential as possible. Retaliation against someone who files a complaint or participates in a complaint investigation is not permitted.

Note: A complaint must be filed within 180 days of the alleged discrimination, unless the time for filing is extended for good cause by the OCR Enforcement Office Director.
