Logan Boys Basketball Team Wins Division Championships, On Way to State!

Congratulations to James Logan High School’s Varsity Boys Basketball team as they beat Palo Alto High, 65-61, in overtime to win the Nor Cal Regional Division 1 Championship!

With a bid to NCS, after their loss to Dublin High, the boys battled their way through Modesto Christian, San Leandro High, Heritage High, and Palo Alto High School.  The last Logan Boys Basketball Team team to make it to the State Championships was in 1985.

The Boys Basketball Team plays Roosevelt High from Southern California this Friday, March 24th at 8pm at the new Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster or at the door.

NHSF to Host 7th Annual Earth Day Run for Our Schools, April 22

The New Haven Schools Foundation is excited to announce its seventh annual 5K/10K community race, Earth Day Run for Our Schools.   5K/10K fans, families and students of the New Haven Unified School District and the surrounding communities are invited to be a part of this popular chip-timed event, which will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017.  Runners and walkers can look forward to a great race that starts and finishes at Cesar Chavez Middle School.  Check-in and race day registration begins at 8:30 a.m.  The start time for the 5K and 10K races is 9:30 a.m.  The 5K/10K race course closes at 11:30 a.m.

Alameda County Reading Association to Host Book Club for Semester Credit

Need semester units? Join Alameda County Reading Association for a chance to engage in conversation and learning centered around growth mindset. Read A Mindset for Learning, by Christine Hertz and Kristine Mraz.  Then, join ACRA for a book club discussion. Logan’s Institute of Community Leaders Enrolling Students for 2017-18

IVCMS Student to Advance to State Science Fair with Recent Win

Over the weekend of March 11, Itliong-Vera Cruz Middle School sixth-grader, Ankita Deep, participated in the Alameda County Science Fair and won her category.   Her project, Feed-O-Meter, a smart device to water plants based on their moisture needs, was categorized under Robotics and Intelligent Machines for middle school participants. As the category winner, Ankita will have an opportunity to represent her school at the California State Science Fair, held in Los Angeles in late April and will also be eligible to apply for the Broadcom Masters Challenge.

CCMS STEM Robotics Team Needs Your Help!

Applications Now Being Accepted for Peer Language Model Program
New Haven Unified School District accepts a few typically developing peers to serve as language models in each of our preschool classrooms.  General education peers are placed according to availability. The Peer Language Model component is an important part of our program.  Children learn not only from adults, but from watching and interacting with other children.  New Haven is now accepting applications for Fall 2016. Writing Workshop: Informational Writing
Come join us for an afternoon of  Writer’s Workshop professional development where we will grow our work on informational writing with a focus on research writing. Participants will be given time to plan for immersion, develop a model piece of writing and collaboratively plan teaching points for informational writing.

NHUSD and Union City Kids' Zone to host Art Parent Workshops
