Board Briefs for
Tuesday, January 17, 2017
At their regularly held meeting on Tuesday, January 17, the Board heard a presentation from Mission Valley Regional Occupation Program (MVROP) Superintendent Thomas Hanson and Director of Educational Services Dr. Cliff Adams-Hart. The two provided an update of programs offered through their Career Technical program for 2016-17 and the plan for future programs for 2017-18. Currently, MVROP offers 59 Career Technical Education (CTE) courses: 26 of which courses carry UC “a-g” accredited status. MVROP also offers dual enrollment which allows high school students to take and earn recognized college credit at the same time. The presentation included information on how ROP classes contribute to member districts meeting their College and Career Goals as part of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) Evaluation Rubrics. Their presentation can be found here.
The Board also heard a presentation from Auditor Xiupin Guillaume, a Certified Public Accountant from the auditing firm Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co., LLP. Ms. Guillaume stated that the audit firm's opinion was that the District's financial statements "present fairly" in all financial aspects for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016. The auditor also stated that the audit report issued on the financial reporting was a clean and unmodified report with no material weakness identified in the financial statements, Federal awards and/or State awards.
The Board of education also approved the District's "English Learner Master Plan" at Tuesday's meeting. The plan, which includes input from staff and the community, addresses all components of the English Learner program in the district and can be found here.
