Message from Superintendent Thompson

Dear New Haven Community,

As you may have heard, there was an altercation that occurred in the parking lot in front of James Logan High School on Tuesday, January 7, involving two of our students, a non-student and the parents of one of our students. Unfortunately, this altercation resulted in the mother of one of our students being hospitalized and the non-student being arrested. The District issued a statement related to this incident on Wednesday to local media outlets who contacted us about the altercation. Because this is an active investigation and due to student confidentiality regulations, we are not able to share more information about the incident.

The District is investigating this matter and will take any and all appropriate actions as a result of the information discovered. As a result of this incident, we will be reviewing our security and safety protocols at the site. The safety of our students, staff, and parents are our highest priority and we are continually looking for ways to improve. We sincerely hope that the injured parent heals quickly.

Sincerely,

John Thompson, Ed.D.
Superintendent
