Logan’s Institute of Community Leaders to Hold Exhibition Night, Thursday, May 16

The Institute of Community Leaders (ICL) is holding its 7th annual Exhibition Night on Thursday, May 16th!  Join us to applaud our ICL 9th and 10th graders' hard work throughout the year. We will also hold a Senior Signing Ceremony, as our graduating seniors announce where they will be attending next year.  Exhibition Night will be held in Memorial Square, at the far end of Logan's campus, from 6:30 - 8:15 pm. We hope to see you there!



The New Haven Unified School District and the District African American Advisory (DAAA) would like to invite you to the 4th Annual African American Recognition and Celebration.  This will be an opportunity to acknowledge and honor the achievements of African American students in our district that are current 5th, 8th, and 12th graders who are either promoting to the next grade span or graduating!  The event will take place on Saturday, June 1st at 2:00 p.m. at James Logan Pavilion, located at 1800 H Street in Union City. This event is free and we are hoping that you will join us in rallying together to acknowledge the achievements of our students! Latino Parents Advisory Meeting, Thursday, May 23

Latino Parents Advisory meeting, May, 23rd, 5:45 p.m., Barnard White Middle School campus. This will be the final meeting of this year. There will be two presentations that evening:


5:50 p.m.: MATH SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES - How To Help Your Child When They Don't Understand The Language of Math


6:20 p.m.: Trauma Informed Practices Social Emotional Learning

Ballet Folklorico de James Logan Spring Concert Friday, May 17

The Ballet Folklorico de James Logan High School will be holding their annual Spring Concert on Friday, May 17, at Logan’s Center for the Performing Arts, beginning at 8:00 p.m.  Information about the event and how to purchase tickets can be found here.


AES Parent-Teacher Club Sponsors “Healing for Mothers” Day Long Retreat

The Alvarado Elementary School Parent Teacher Club (AEPTC) is sponsoring a day long "Healing for Mothers" retreat on Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Alvarado Elementary.  The retreat will include yoga, meditation, self care tools, and the most profound of all: rebirthing.

Hispanic Community Affairs Council, Friday May 10

The Hispanic Community Affairs Council would like to invite you to their annual scholarship awards luncheon to celebrate this year's recipients.  HCAC promotes the value of education to our community and youth. Pilipinx Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, June 1st

Registration is now open for the First Annual Pilipinx Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, June 1st. This special ceremony will be hosted by New Haven PASE ( Pilipino American Society for Education) and Filipino Youth Association (FYA) at Itliong Vera-Cruz Middle School.  This ceremony does not replace the traditional Logan High Ceremony. We will also acknowledge PASE Scholarship recipients and will end with a light refreshments. All students who identify as Filipino are invited.

Kitayama Elementary School is Looking for STEAM Speakers

Kitayama Elementary School is looking for speakers who have a job or hobby related to science, technology, engineering, art, or mathematics (STEAM) to present to students on STEAM Day, May 17.  Interested individuals should contact Assistant Principal, Mary Small at msmall@nhusd.k12.ca.us or complete this form online.  Speakers will be asked to give a 15-30 minute presentation regarding their STEAM-related occupation or hobby.  Click here for more information.


CCMS Retirees 2019 - Save the Date

CCMS will be honoring their 2019 retirees: Teri Gruenwald, Joni Gilbertson, and Ester Claudio. Please join us to help celebrate!  Friday, May 31 at El Torito in San Leandro. The cost is $35.00 per person which will include a buffet dinner. Please RSVP no later than Friday, May 10 to Doris Gallagher at CCMS. Union City Family Center (formerly Kids' Zone)
The Union City Family Center (UCFC) operates a dynamic Family Center, located on the campus of the Barnard-White Middle School.  UCFC Family Liaisons, assigned to specific school sites, expand access to UCFC and partner resources for the community. Liaisons provide case management and resource linkages for displaced/low wage families/youth who receive needed support with shelter, transportation, emergency food, clothing, job training/job search (Highway to Work & Cypress Mandela), financial coaching/taxes (SparkPoint), affordable childcare (Kidango) applying for benefits, and our safe parking lots program for displaced families ~ all co-located at the Union City Family Center. UCFC partners with community volunteers and over 35 community agencies!  


The Union City Family Center is now an Alameda County Food distribution site! Food will be distributed every Tuesday that school is in session from 3:00 pm - 5:00 p.m. UCFC is located at 725 Whipple Road, Union City, CA (on the Barnard-White Middle School campus). Volunteers are welcome!
