2019-2020 Student Enrollment Information
Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten enrollment packets are now available.  Families can pick up a packet from the Centralized Enrollment Center at 34200 Alvarado Niles Road.  

Actual appointments to enroll begin today.  Completed enrollment packets, necessary documents, and proof of a physical examination with immunizations required by the State of California must be brought to this appointment to enroll your TK or Kindergarten student.

Enrollment for Grades 1 through 12 will begin March 25.  Those families who wish to request a transfer to another school in New Haven may also submit a request starting on March 25.

James Logan Band Hosting Three-Day Concert Series Beginning Tonight

The James Logan Band will be hosting a three-day concert series beginning tonight, Tuesday, March 12, through Thursday, March 14.  All shows begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at Logan’s Center for the Performing Arts:


  • Tuesday, March 12, FREE CONCERT
    • James Logan Concert Band and Symphonic Band
  • Wednesday, March 13, $5 at the door (to cover the cost of the performer)
  • Thursday, March 14, FREE CONCERT
    • James Logan Wind Symphony and the San Diego State Band

Decoto School for Independent Study Open House, Monday, March 25
Come learn about the Decoto School for Independent Study (DSIS).  Meet the teachers and discover how our program may be a good alternative to a traditional school.

New Haven Schools Foundation Earth Day Celebration and Fun Run, Saturday, April 20

Come join the fun for the 2019 New Haven Schools Foundation Earth Day Celebration and Fun Run, Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Cesar Chavez Middle School.  New this year is an Earth Day Poster Contest for New Haven students in grades K-8.  Winning poster contest entries will be announced at the event and later in the Spring put on display at the Mark Green Sports Center. (Poster contest rules and entry forms will be in school offices by March 18.  To request an electronic copy, send an email to michael@nhsfoundation.org.)

In addition to Earth Day activities and celebration, NHSF will hold the annual 5K (run & walk), 10K (run) and kid races (400m, 800m &1600m).  Details can be found at nhsfoundation.org. Race registration is here.

NHSF is a non-profit raising money for scholarships for New Haven students and grants for New Haven teachers and staff. In 2018, With the support of the community and local businesses, NHSF awarded over $130,000 in scholarships and over $40,000 in teacher grants.



Tri-City Health Center Staff to Help Families Enroll in Health Care, Other Programs

Tri-City Health Center's Certified Enrollment Counselors will be at Searles Elementary on March 15th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to offer FREE enrollment assistance for the following following programs: HealthPAC, Covered California, Medi-Cal and CalFresh programs. This event is open to all members of the community.  In addition, we are happy to have the Tri-City Mobile Health Van on site as well from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To make appointments for the Mobile Van, you can call Tri-City Health Center at 510-770-8040 directly.  For more information about this event, please click here.  For registration information, please click here for English or here for Spanish.  


Logan College and Career Center and EAOP Hosting Two Great Events for Logan Students

Community College Fair: JLHS EAOP and the College & Career Center will be hosting a Community College Fair on Monday March 18th during both lunches in Colt Court. Come meet local community colleges, ask questions and learn of the many opportunities and options available to you. Open to all Logan students especially but juniors and seniors strongly encouraged to attend.


JLHS Job Expo: Are you looking for a job, career options or maybe community service opportunities? The college and career center will be hosting a Job Career Community Service Expo on March 19th during both lunches in colt court. Meet potential employers, non-profit organizations, military reps and more and plan for your future. A variety of resource organizations will also be in attendance for you to access. Open to all Logan students!

Need your High School Diploma or the prepare for the GED?  Registration for these classes are ongoing

Registration Times:

  • Mon - Thurs  8:30 am to 10:30 am
  • Tues & Thurs  12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • Mon - Thurs 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

What to Bring: Transcripts from any high schools you have attended, including countries outside the U.S. If you do not have a copy of your U.S. transcripts, we can request them for you.  Registration takes about 1 1/2 hours.

  • AND  One day CPR  9am-3:00pm


EVENING/ONLINE HYBRID Class

  • On campus: Every Thursday 5:30 - 8:30pm
  • AND 4 additional M/W  5:30 - 8:30pm during the class term
  • AND online 2 times/week

Funding assistance available for students taking the training for paid employment purposes.

Alameda County Fathers Corps to Host Fatherhood Summit 2019

Please join us for Alameda County's inaugural Fatherhood Summit, hosted by the Alameda County Fathers Corps (ACFC), to celebrate, honor, and acknowledge the critical role fathers and father figures play in their families and communities. Applications for Zone After School Program is Now Open

The ZONE After School Program is currently accepting student applications for (current school year 2018-19) the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant funded site, Searles Elementary School (this applies to students currently attending school at Searles Elementary Elementary) - limited space is available in grades: K/1, 2, 4, and 5.  Please see the ZONE Program Specialist, Quinn Perry, at Searles Elementary for an application and/or additional information in Room 22: Quinn Perry, qperry@nhusd.k12.ca.us, 510-476-2752


Alameda County Transition Faire  
We are pleased to announce that the 2019 Alameda County Transition Faire will be held on Saturday, March 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the College of Alameda. The Transition Faire is an opportunity for students and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, service providers and school district staff to learn about life after high school. Mission Valley Track and Field Club Sign-Ups Going on Now

The Mission Valley Track and Field Club is a community based group serving Union City and the surrounding areas. The Mission Valley Track and Field Club’ goal, in conjunction with the James Logan Track and Field Team and James Logan Cross Country Team, is to promote life skills through the sport of Track and Field.  The Organization serves Youth, Special Olympic athletes, Master athletes and Seniors from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds locally and in the surrounding communities.

Union City Family Center (formerly Kids' Zone)
The Union City Family Center (UCFC) operates a dynamic Family Center, located on the campus of the Barnard-White Middle School.  UCFC Family Liaisons, assigned to specific school sites, expand access to UCFC and partner resources for the community. Liaisons provide case management and resource linkages for displaced/low wage families/youth who receive needed support with shelter, transportation, emergency food, clothing, job training/job search (Highway to Work & Cypress Mandela), financial coaching/taxes (SparkPoint), affordable childcare (Kidango) applying for benefits, and our safe parking lots program for displaced families ~ all co-located at the Union City Family Center. UCFC partners with community volunteers and over 35 community agencies!  


The Union City Family Center is now an Alameda County Food distribution site! Food will be distributed every Tuesday that school is in session from 3:00 pm - 5:00 p.m. UCFC is located at 725 Whipple Road, Union City, CA (on the Barnard-White Middle School campus). Volunteers are welcome!
